Mean arterial pressure calculator

Enter the two numbers from a cuff reading. This page returns estimated mean arterial pressure, and states the formula it used so you can check it.

estimated MAP = (systolic + 2 × diastolic) ÷ 3

Whole numbers, 60 to 300 mm Hg

Whole numbers, 30 to 200 mm Hg

No account and no sign-up. The two numbers exist in this tab and are gone when you close it.

An estimate, not a measurement

This formula approximates mean arterial pressure from two cuff numbers. It assumes a normal heart rate and a normal-ish arterial waveform, and other estimators give slightly different answers. A directly measured mean arterial pressure comes from an arterial line, not from arithmetic on a home reading.

The methodology page states the formula and its assumptions in full, and the main calculator also shows where the reading falls in the published classification table.
